Palm Desert Choreography Festival
The Palm Desert Choreography Festival will remain quite a memory for BDT. It was enough that “My Way” was chosen as a finalist and we got to travel to California together. It was enough that the dancers got to dance in a professional theatre, on a stage that took their breath away. It was enough for Keithan to be the youngest finalist and stand up there with esteemed choreographers and teachers from dance companies, colleges, and academies. And it was enough that after “My Way” danced, the audience applauded with approval and the host of the evening said…”Will any of us ever hear that song again without seeing that dance?” All of this was incredible, BUT…..it didn’t end there. Keithan was chosen as the grand prize winner of the evening, which led to an emotional reaction from everyone who knew him and even some who didn’t. We could not be prouder of our classy, professional, talented dancers, and our superstar homegrown choreographer Keithan.
Congratulations to all!
We Will Miss You Pop-Pop!
1942-2009
Broadway Dance Theatre has lost an important part of its’ family. On October 13th, Anthony Santos (Miss Lorinda’s father) lost his long battle with cancer. Pop-pop was a fixture at BDT since we opened 13 years ago, with his ever-present camera. He loved nothing more than being around his family and watching his grandchildren dance. Tony was even in our annual production of The Nutcracker until last year. (and built many of the set pieces) He took great joy in spending time at the studio, and at competitions watching our children and yours grow.
He was loved by many, and will surely be missed!
BDT Choreographer Gets Chosen for Young Choreographer’s Festival!
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Miss Laura! She was chosen as one of 16 choreographers to present her work in NYC at the Young Choreographer's Festival this June. We are so proud of her and look forward to seeing our BDT dancers perform in her piece at Symphony Space, June 2017!
For Jamie
The dance world came together this past weekend to honor a beautiful 14 year old dancer who was fatally shot last week in Florida. Dancers at competitions across the country wore orange to remember her. We did not have a competition last weekend, so our studio "went orange" today. The older dancers took class in her honor. The younger dancers just wore orange to cheer up a "sad dance family". Broadway Dance Theatre is sending healing thoughts to all who loved Jamie, and was proud to wear orange to remember her spirit!

BDT Senior Tap Company is honored to have been invited to perform their "Hamilton Tap" at the Governor’s Ball at Kean University! What an amazing opportunity for our dancers!

A Successful Season for Our
BDT Dance Companies!
Congratulations to all our company dancers on a wonderful competition season! From our first competition in February, to Conventions in March, to nationals in AC....your performances were phenomenal! All the high scores, awards, scholarships, and honors were well-deserved, but we hope the memories made on stage and with friends, last a lifetime! So proud of you all!
High school students at BDT may register for our Student Choreography Program! These students work hard, exploring choreographic concepts and creating and completing many projects throughout the year. Last month, they presented their video projects....and we were blown away. Keep it up dancers! The dance world always needs new and fresh choreographers and we are proud to be a safe place for you to explore your talent!

So proud of this group of dancers!
Every other year we attend a full Nationals! This summer was our “off year” so we went to Starpower Nationals and it was optional for dancers to attend. We had a wonderful group of dancers and were able to compete many dances. Congratulations to all the high score winners!
Starpower Nationals 2017
Broadway Dance Theatre was invited to bring dancers to the 2016 Carnegie Hall Invitational this past January. It was an experience like no other. We performed three dances to an audience that adored the choreography, dancers and music. This is something these dancers will never forget.

Bringing True Meaning to Competitions
BDT dancers did incredibly well at Starpower this spring, receiving many overall high scores, scholarships, special awards, choreography awards, and first places....but it is actually something else that made the weekend so incredible. The "Inspire Bracelets" were a big hit. Our minis all the way up to seniors, handed them to one special dancer that they loved watching. The reactions from these dancers were priceless. Friends were made, pictures taken, and those dancers will remember that moment far longer than the trophy that they received this weekend. I am so proud of all our BDT dancers for embracing this and making a difference at competitions, which can very often be stressful and cut-throat environments. Of course it is nice to win, but receiving high scores AND bringing more meaning to this competitive world, is worth more than anything.
